Pubs, Hotels, Bars and Taverns in Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom
Publocation UK is a work in progress. So far we've listed pubs in London and across much of England, and we're adding the rest of the United Kingdom county by county. So if you don't see a pub we should get to it soon. Cheers, Team Publocation.
Nottingham stands on soft sandstone, and its pubs have dug right in. Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, built against Castle Rock with caves cut into the cliff, dates itself to 1189 and is one of several pubs claiming to be England's oldest, including two Nottingham rivals, the Bell Inn and Ye Olde Salutation. Medieval maltings and ale cellars were carved into the rock beneath the city. In Southwell, Charles I stopped at the King's Arms, now the Saracen's Head, on the day he surrendered to the Scots in May 1646.
