Pubs, Taverns, Hotels and Bars in Essex, United Kingdom

Publocation UK is a work in progress. So far we've listed pubs in London and across much of England, and we're adding the rest of the United Kingdom county by county. So if you don't see a pub we should get to it soon. Cheers, Team Publocation.

Every Good Friday, a hot cross bun joins the crowded row hanging from a beam at the Bell in Horndon-on-the-Hill, a custom that goes back more than a century. Other Essex pub tales run older still. St Anne's Castle at Great Leighs stands on the site of a hermitage where pilgrims to Becket's tomb rested, and it has long claimed to be England's oldest inn. Ridley's brewed at Hartford End from 1842 until the mid-2000s, and Essex pubs have been named CAMRA's National Pub of the Year three times.
